From the kitchen of One Perfect Bite...Yellow cauliflower is finally available in farmer's markets in Oregon. I've been waiting a while for this variety to make an appearance. I was curious to see if there was any flavor change in the new hybrid. There is. It's milder in taste than it's parent and does not crumble as readily. I've prepared it steamed and stir fried and was very pleased with the results. It's color deepens as it cooks and it is much milder in flavor than most of the brassicas. I'll buy this whenever it's available.
I'm linking this post to Mellow Yellow Monday.
It's the perfect shade of yellow!
ReplyDeleteI visited Beaverton Farmer's Market today. It was so wonderful!
Wow... interesting! Never know that there's yellow cauliflower outside there :)
ReplyDeleteDoes it taste the same as the regular white one?
I thought it was suppose to be "Blue Monday"!!??
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a yellow cauliflower in my life!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
I've not seen this but will be on the lookout for it. Did buy some deep purple beans -- they turned regular green when cooked. (What a dish -- purple beans, green beans and yellow beans -- alas, won't happen!)
ReplyDeleteI have not seen this yet, but that bright yellow color makes me think buttery good LOL I like the idea that it has a milder flavor. I'm going to keep an eye open for this as well. Yumm...
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this....didn't know it existed. I love cauliflower any way cooked/raw.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to keep my eyes open for this in our markets.
Have a great Sunday, Mary.
Hi Mary! Interesting! I've never heard of yellow cauliflower! I'll be looking for it here in the markets here in the South. I do love its much more traditional brother! I hope you are having a great weekend...Debbie
ReplyDeleteI am so enjoying your yellow theme!
ReplyDeleteI did not know yellow cauliflower even existed!
ReplyDeleteI love the color,
Laura
looks nice, would make a good aloo gobi and no tumeric would need to be added he he eh
ReplyDeleteWOW looks so colorful, Never tried yellow cauliflower before.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty!! I've see the light-green & the purple, but this is my first time seeing the yellow. I like it :D
ReplyDeleteI saw this at the market yesterday and wondered about the flavor. Also saw a deep purple variety. It was too hot yesterday to think about eating anything so I came home emptyhanded. Now I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try it to see if I can change my hubby's mind about cauliflower. I love it. Him...not so much.
ReplyDeleteHi there. I have never seen yellow cauliflower. I'll have to be on the lookout here cause this household loves cauliflower. :D Thank you for sharing with us. I always enjoy your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandra
Such a gorgeous color!
ReplyDeleteI have purchased yellow cauliflower also and I could barely bring myself to cook it, sitting there on my counter looking like a piece of art. The same with he purple variety. It is a litle bland, but I read that the cauliflower's purple color comes from the antioxidant group anthocyanin, which can also be found in red cabbage. Pretty darn cool.

ReplyDeleteFS, that is good info to know. Thanks for passing it on.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting! It is a nice shade and makes the cauliflower appear more appetizing.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen yellow cauliflower before, what a glorious colour!
ReplyDeleteHow did I get so behind on reading? I thought I only missed a day...
