$150 Holiday Giveaway

Giveaway Now Closed

The two winners of the Novica gift certificates have been chosen. Each of the 270 comments in the drawing received a sequential number at the time it was posted. The winners were chosen by a random number generator which selected the numbers 229 and 71. Congratulations to Aisling and Discovery Woman. I will be contacting you soon.

I tend to shy away from giveaways. To be honest, I'm not always comfortable with them, but this holiday season I was approached by a representative from the Corporate Gifts Department of NOVICA, a website associated with National Geographic that gives artisans from around the world a place where their talents can be showcased and sold. I took a really careful look at their catalogs and based on what I saw, accepted their offer, which makes it possible for me to pass on a $75 gift certificate to two of you. If you would like to participate in the drawing, please let me know by way of a comment placed here before midnight on December 15th. Tell me which gift or gifts you'd be likely to select if you are chosen to receive one of the gift certificates. Please remember that most of these gifts tell a story, support a cause or have a purpose. Your selection directly affects the life of the artisan who fashioned it and in many cases helps to keep native craft traditions alive. The various categories from which the gifts can be chosen appear below. Just click on the links to browse through what's available in each of the sections. I will announce the winner on December 16th. That's all there is to it. Good luck!

I've ordered from NOVA before -- they have wonderful products and service, Mary, plus they support such a good cause.

I liked the Chinese Checkers set (http://www.novica.com/itemdetail/index.cfm?pid=50568 ) because I have fond memories of playing that game with my siblings when I was growing up. I'd like to teach to my grand children how to play it, and this set is a piece of art that could be left on display year round.

Thanks!

I'm in love with NOVICA. I love the concept behind it and the wide range of truly unique and beautiful handmade items. I shop at Etsy for the same reason.

One of the items I saw at NOVICA and especially loved was the "Summer Poetry" necklace. Absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway. Don't be scared of them! I've never hosted a giveaway, but I have provided my goods (I'm an artist) for one, and I enjoy entering them whenever I can. It's really a win-win situation for everyone involved. The sponsor gets their name out there for little cost, and the consumer gets excited about a product and most importantly, becomes aware of the product, sponsor and blog!

Hope to see you host some more often! :)

I just love Novica and everything it is and stands for and does! $75 is very generous and I would spend a lot time giving careful thought to my choices. I would love just about any piece of the exquisite jewelry (especially earrings and necklaces) from/by Nareerat of Thailand (like "Happiness" and "Mystic Daisy" earrings)

I also love the jewelry designs by Sasina, Busarin, Danai and Anusara - all of Thailand.

On the other hand, I am very tempted by the graceful wooden Statuettes by Wayan Rendah (Bali & Java) like "Graceful Arc" and the rustic metal sculptures of Mexican artisan, Armando Ramirez. They would make fabulous gifts (even corporate gifts given the variety of "subject matters": careers and hobbies... But the one I want for me and my Honey/Hubby is the wonderful "Park Bench Sweethearts"!

Thank you so much for this marvelous giveaway!!
