Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

From the kitchen of One Perfect Bite...I know that you are busy with holiday activities and it's rather late to ask you to look at recipes that take you away from your family or interfere with your plans. However, last week I found a few that are simple and literally take minutes to prepare. I thought today and tomorrow would be good days to post them for those who will be checking in. Today's feature is an easy recipe for a Ranch-type dressing that's made with buttermilk. It's great for salads, but it can also be used as a chicken marinade. Better still, it can be used as a vegetable dip if you increase the amount of mayonnaise and yogurt to 3/4 of a cup and eliminate the buttermilk. While I use a blender to make my dressing, a whisk is a good substitute if you don't have a blender to work with. The dressing keeps for a week and it is effortless to make. I do hope you'll give it a try. Here is how it's made.

Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing is all-natural, loaded with herbs, simple to make, and so good that you'll never go back to store-bought again!

1/2 cup good-quality mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
1/2 cup buttermilk
3 tablespoons fresh minced parsley (or 1 tablespoon dried parsley)
1-1/2 teaspoons fresh minced dill (or 1/2 teaspoon dried dill)
1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Directions:
Place all ingredients in the jar of an electric blender. Pulse until ingredients are thoroughly blended. Adjust seasonings to taste. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving. If consistency is too thick, thin out with additional buttermilk. Yield: About 2 cups dressing.
