Holiday Breakfast Round-Up + Pink Saturday
We have lots going on today. It's Pink Saturday and we've been asked to share our favorite holiday movie with you. That's way too easy, so I'm going to cheat a bit and simply give you a visual clue. There will be no homework for anyone who can correctly name my favorite movie. Are you ready?
....and finally I want to share some ideas for holiday breakfasts with you. The recipes that appear below are easy to make but they produce dishes that are festive enough to make holiday meals special. I must admit I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to holiday breakfasts. The Silver Fox makes breakfast on Thanksgiving and Christmas morning, so the recipes are, of necessity, very straightforward and easy to complete. As an aside, they are also very easy to clean up after. Add one or several of them to the menu for your holiday breakfast or brunch and I know you'll be happy with the results. Here are some of my favorites.
Asparagus and Mushroom Strata
Eggs Florentine
Oven Baked Scrambled Eggs
Frittata with Spring Herbs and Leeks
Pumpkin Pancakes with Orange Caramel Syrup
Baked French Toast with Cardamom and Apricot Preserves
Breakfast Polenta with Chorizo and Queso Fresco
Smothered Eggs in Spoonbread
Swiss Onion Tart
Brussels and Liege Waffles

yummy,
you make me feel hungry.
have a lovely day.
For being simple and straightforward, they all look pretty good to me! And, quite frankly, any breakfast made by someone other than me is really good. I like to concentrate my efforts for meals later in the day.
Hmmm, let me think about your favorite movie.....it's mine as well. And we've seen it on stage several times. Pretty good there as well. "Christmas Story". Do I win something? Like a Red Ryder gun. I'll be careful with it.
Best,
Bonnie

Every breakfast looks lovely, but a couple have particularly caught my eye. I will have to investigate further.

I love A Christmas Story. Those are some great looking dishes and I'm not referring to the plates.
All your breakfast things look so good, especially since there was an emergency involding an overflowing toilet and a mini flood in my house, so I missed breakfast today. I'll have to look up that polenta recipe later. I love polenta and always have leftovers, so I bet this would be a great way to dress it up the next day.
That is such a cute movie! And gosh, can I PLEASE come have Chrismtas Morning Breakfast at YOUR house?!? Everything looks yummy!
Happy PINK SATURDAY!

What a yummy post, Mary! I'd love to have you come over and cook for me since it's my least favourite thing to do. I'm looking for an easy overnight breakfast for Christmas morning. I had one but lost it somehow. If you have a recipe on hand, let me know. Happy Pink Saturday.

I love a Christmas Story. I havent seen it in years.
So many wonderful breakfast ideas!
Christmas Story is playing live at the Childrens Theatre in Minneapolis (cancelled tonight - verything is) and I have been thinking about seeing it live. My husband and son are downstairs watching It's a Wonderful Life, Kirsten is upstairs watching Polar Express and tomorrow's agenda is Love, Actually! We're a Christmas-movie family! Love all the eggs - but the eggs smothered in asppoonbread really warms me.
Hi Mary! Oh, I love that sweet movie!! You'll shoot your eye out!!
LOL I saw a picture the other day on the net of a grown up Ralphie and he is so handsome and those blue eyes are still shining! :)

Happy Pink Saturday. Thanks for visiting my blog. YUMMY! your blog is wonderful thanks for all the great breakfast ideas. Have a wonderful week.
Mary, you post so often that I end up missing great recipes so I love when you do a round up. So many yummy things to try.
Don't know this movie but I'll go back and look at the image again.
Oh Mary, you just HAD to go and show these delicious looking dishes. I will take one of everything!
A Christmas Story is my favorite too, I think I've watched it about 6 times this year. Normally I wouldn't watch it that much but I've got my 3 year old nephew loving Ralphie now too. Happy Pink and Happy Holidays Mary!
I treat myself to a "big girl" breakfast on Sundays because I take an extra long walk on the beach - your offering outdoes anything I've ever treated myself to!
Oh yes! Great movie! Your food pics are soooooo enticing. :-)
Must make homemade breakfast tomorrow morning. LOL.
Jillian
We watch that movie every year. And quote things from it throughout the year. We both had tears in our eyes from laughing the first time we saw the Bumpus Hounds and the turkey scene. Smiles for your week!
Judy
Ohhhh, your Strata and Frittata have me hungry again! Beautifully done, Mary - they all look delish!
OH my goodness....all those foods for breakfast sound so good!. We always have Christmas Morning rolls and sausage balls. I will be traveling this Christmas so I won't be making our Christmas breakfast but I have had special requests to bring the sausage balls with me. LOL....Happy "way late" Pink Saturday Mary.
Oops.....I forgot to say the movie is A Christmas Story.....one of our favorites too! xoxo
