Quick Bread Round-Up

From the kitchen of One Perfect Bite...The gifts I've made for our neighbors this Christmas are simple baskets that include a small bread board, a jar of cranberry conserves and two loaves of quick bread, one sweet, the other savory. I've made a lot of bread this year and I had to puzzle what my choices for gifting would be. I could have used any of the recipes that appear in today's round-up, but I finally decided to make a seasonally colorful French olive bread and streusel topped pumpkin and pecan bread that I particularly enjoy. I've found that quick breads make wonderful token gifts for the holidays. They are easy to put together and they are always appreciated. There is a good deal of truth in that old saw, "Nothing says lovin' like something from the oven." So, if you still have gifts outstanding, may I suggest that you fire up the oven and have a go at one of the recipes that appear below.

Olive Bread

Hawaiian Banana Bread

Lemon Poppyseed Bread

Date and Hazelnut Bread

Coconut Bubble Bread

Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread

Pumpkin Apple Bread

Strawberry Tea Bread

Pumpkin Pecan Bread with Streusel Topping

Toasted Coconut Bread

Of course these all look lovely...but I was particulary drawn to the olive loaf. We don't see near enough savory quick breads. My husband ADORES olives, so I may be making that loaf for him. Thank you for sharing with me. I hope you have a relaxing Sunday.

I like the sound of the pumpkin, apple bread. All my friends this year are being bombarded by jars of jams and pickles that I made in summer while in Frsnce. Diane

mary, all these loaves look fabulous especially the olive bread and i like the herb bread too from your past posts. Mary, just a dumb question from me, just wondering do all of these textures resemble cakes? i understand that sometimes you all call that 'bread' too.

How fun to see all the quick breads lined up, almost like a trip to the homemade quick bread store, too bad I can't click on one to order! They look so good and remind me of Christmas morning where cranberry nut and apricot quick breads were our beloved early breakfast choices. Thanks for sharing Mary:)

I just declared I was going to tackle baking in 2011, but I didn't think I'd be doing bread (scary). However, I have just bookmarked this olive bread because it is making me drool.

FOODESSA said...

Mary...that lovin' of yours spans across that roundup in the most endearing Foodie way. Nice to have your list all in one place ;o)
I'll need to come back and dig some more over the winter months.

Flavourful wishes,
Claudia

I have been looking at olive loafs lately. Yours does look grand. I often give quick breads as gifts for the holidays. Nice to see such a scrumptious selection.

You have such a great assortment of quick breads! I prefer making them over yeast breads any day. I have a handful of these bookmarked and can't wait to try them in the coming year!
