Strawberry Orange Smoothies

From the kitchen of One Perfect Bite...Smoothies for a mob? I'm a coward and would never attempt it, but I've just come from a breakfast where it was done successfully. I thought those of you who regularly entertain large groups for brunch or breakfast, might like to make this smoothie for your family and guests to enjoy. There were about 50 people at the breakfast this morning. The smoothies were made about an hour before serving and kept in half-gallon containers. The containers were given a vigorous shake before the drinks were served, but there was no unsightly mess to spoil the appearance of the lovely tables that had been set for breakfast. The recipe can be doubled or tripled, but remember the limitations of your blender. Even an average batch will have to be made in two parts and then mixed together. I think you'll like this. It is a fast, easy and inexpensive way to help feed a gang. Here's the recipe.

Strawberry Orange Smoothies...from the kitchen of One Perfect Bite, courtesy of Deb Mac Neil

Ingredients:
3 cups orange juice
1 carton (8 ounces) strawberry yogurt
6 fresh strawberries
1 can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple, drained
1 medium firm banana, cut into chunks

Directions:
Place half of each ingredient in a blender; cover and process until blended. Pour into chilled glasses. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Serve immediately. Yield: 6 servings.

I know it will be hard to believe, but at my advanced age I've never had a smoothie. Somehow the texture has never appealed to me, and I'd rather eat my calories. The colour of this one is very pretty, though, and if my daughter were to make it I might take a sip.

I cannot imagine making smoothies for a crowd of 50! Even storing them for an hour in gallon containers, as you mention, seems kinda strange..... but worth a try..... We LOVE smoothies around here, so there's never the possibility of having to store them or to wait for them!

You made smoothies for 50 peeps?! WOW! What was that for? My boyfriend (who doesn't cook/make anything) made me a white chocolate peanut butter blueberry smoothie the other day... yum!

I do, in fact, need to co-host an after-church breakfast-like function in a few weeks. Perfect! Just a little different from the average fare.

Excellent! My family reunion is on this weekend (couldn't make it myself) and my cousin was whinging about not having any ideas for easy and delicious meals for the masses. Absolutely sending this her way!

I just made the White Wonder Cake you posted quite awhile ago. I came across it through the "you might also like..." pictures at the bottom, and I have to tell you that it was SO delicious! I didn't think it was that easy to make a lemon curd filling, and I almost made extra frosting, but it's so rich I'm glad I didn't.

Also, the picture of that smoothie makes me want to run to the store right now and pick up the fruit to make it :) I know it's another thing on my shopping list now!

Sounds perfect! And so pretty. It is close to my own recipe - but I've never done the pineapple - will definitely try that addition!

Wow making smoothies for 50 sounds like a recipe for having fruit puree on your ceiling. These look so good, though! I'm thinking a smoothie for ONE is in order.

Mary, We have smoothies for breakfast a couple of times a week. Nice recipe for your strawberry smoothie. We've been making ours with a lot of strawberries, half and half, a little sugar, a banana and ice. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

The color of the smoothie is so beautiful. I love to have a smoothie when I feel like having some fruit but don't want to eat it. A smoothie is the perfect way to have fruit and savor the flavors. I hope you have a great week!
